Meet our Garden Members

Dr. Michelle Samuel-Foo joined the Biology program at ASU in January 2018 as an assistant professor, where she is engaged in teaching both undergraduate and graduate classes. Dr. Samuel-Foo is also the PI for Industrial Hemp research at ASU's campus from a federal grant due to the recent passage of the 2019 Farm Bill. She received her master's in Agronomy and Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Georgia. Dr. Samuel-Foo recently was elected as President of the Southeastern Entomological Society of America. 

​

During her free time, Michelle enjoys staying active by going to the gym and spending time outside with her 3 boys.

Caitlin Reeves joined the Biology Department at ASU in November 2019 as the greenhouse and garden manager. Caitlin received both her undergraduate and master's degrees in Horticulture from Auburn University. At ASU, most of her time is spent tending to plants in the greenhouses and research garden for student and faculty research. 

​

While not working, Caitlin enjoys spending time outside gardening, creating fresh flower arrangements, hunting, fishing, and spending time with her husband and dog, Thomas & Remi.

Desiree Dennis joined the Biology Department in February 2020 as our Program Coordinator Associate. Desiree received her Associate's Degree from Trenholm State Technical College before joining ASU's staff.

During her free time, Desiree enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, traveling, and attending church.

Olufemi "Femi" Ajayi joined the Biology Department at ASU in June 2020 as the Post-Doctoral Candidate for entomology and industrial hemp research. Femi recieved his Ph.D. of Entomology from Auburn University.

During his free time, Femi enjoys playing soccer and playing fun card games with his wife.

Donchel Boone is a graduate student at ASU in Biological Sciences, and works in Dr. Samuel-Foo's lab on her research with industrial hemp and insects. Donchel is from Lithonia, GA and received her undergraduate degree from Alabama State University.

Donchel is a lover of science, and during her free time she enjoys sewing and creating pillows that she sells.

Tyson Knight is a graduate student at ASU in Biological Sciences, and works in Dr. Samuel-Foo's lab on his research with insects and industrial hemp. Tyson received his B.S. in Biology from Alabama State University in 2011. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.

​

During Tyson's free time, he likes to go bowling, fishing, and enjoys watching and playing sports.
