About Us

The Alabama State University Teaching & Research Garden was started on our campus in January 2019. We have used our gardens as a way to teach and educate our students and community on agricultural sustainability, as well as nutritional benefits of fresh produce.

Spring 2021 Volunteer Information:

Do you need a project or new hobby that is fun and exciting? Come visit the ASU Teaching Garden during any of the upcoming dates to volunteer and see what we are up to!

 

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:

  • February 1, 2021: 9:00-11:00 AM

  • February 17, 2021: 9:00-11:00 AM

  • March 1, 2021: 9:00-11:00 AM

  • March 15, 2021: 9:00-11:00 AM

Volunteer Activities Include:

  • Weeding raised beds, landscape, tunnel houses, etc. 

  • Pruning landscape plants.

  • Planting seeds for the garden beds, vertical planters, etc.

  • Irrigation Design, Installation, and Maintenance.

  • Harvest produce from garden. 

  • Are you or a group interested in our “Adopt a Bed” program?
