About the Garden

The ASU Teaching & Research Garden was established on Alabama State University's campus in January of 2019 through a specialty crop block grant from the USDA. Associate Professor of Biology, Dr. Michelle Samuel-Foo is the primary investigator for this project, although now the garden is cared for by our entire team. We pride ourselves on growing fresh produce for all to enjoy, and strive to provide new and exciting opportunities for our students here at ASU. Check back on our website and social media for upcoming events and announcements, or how to come join us and get your hands dirty!

Our Vision

At Alabama State University Teaching & Research Garden, we pride ourselves on the promotion of agriculture and it's nutritional benefits to underserved and minority communities near and around the Montgomery greater area.  We also believe that by our passion for agriculture, we can promote education and help ASU to establish itself as a competitive program for agricultural research.
